Seasoned ground beef is cooked until perfectly browned, then layered over a bed of shredded lettuce with crispy toasted bread cubes, shredded cheese, diced pickles, onions, and an optional burst of freshness from tomatoes. For the Beef
1 lb ground beef
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder

For the Bowl
2 cups shredded green leaf lettuce, or romaine
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup diced dill pickles
1/2 small white onion, finely diced
1 medium tomato, diced

For the Special Sauce
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp yellow mustard
1 tbsp minced pickles + pinch of sugar
1/2 tsp white vinegar
1/2 tsp onion powder
Pinch of paprika

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, minced pickles, sugar, vinegar, onion powder, and paprika to make the special sauce. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Shred the lettuce, dice the pickles, onion, and tomato, and shred the cheese.

Cooking

  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it into small crumbles, until browned and cooked through. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Drain excess grease if needed.

Serving

  • Divide the shredded lettuce among bowls.
  • Spoon the warm beef on top, then add cheese, pickles, onions, and tomatoes.
  • Drizzle generously with the special sauce.
