Ginger Lime Chicken Marinade

Zesty lime and ginger marinade with garlic and soy sauce for a flavorful blend of savory and citrus notes.

This Ginger Lime Chicken Marinade is a zesty, flavorful blend with a balance of savory and citrusy notes. Soy sauce, lime juice, and lime zest bring a refreshing tang, while fresh ginger adds mild heat and depth. Minced garlic enhances the savory elements, and black pepper adds a subtle spice to round out the flavors. Ideal for marinating chicken, this mixture produces a mouthwatering dish perfect for grilling or baking.

¼ cup soy sauce
¼ cup vegetable oil
Zest of 1 lime
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
2 tablespoons fresh ginger, grated
1 garlic clove, minced
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Mixing the Marinade
In a bowl, whisk together ¼ cup soy sauce, ¼ cup vegetable oil, zest of 1 lime, 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice, 2 tablespoons grated fresh ginger, 1 minced garlic clove, and ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper until well combined.

Marinating the Chicken
Place your chicken (breasts, thighs, or tenders) in a dish or resealable bag and pour the marinade over it. Toss to coat evenly, then cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 4 hours. Avoid marinating much longer due to the acidity from the lime.

Cooking Suggestions
Remove the chicken from the marinade and cook as desired:

Grill: Medium-high heat, 5–7 minutes per side
Pan-sear: Medium heat, 6–8 minutes per side
Bake: 400°F for 18–25 minutes

Serving
Serve hot with a squeeze of fresh lime and optional chopped herbs like cilantro for a bright, citrusy finish.
