Ingredients

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, finely diced (remove seeds for a milder flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Tortilla chips, for serving

Instructions

Preparing the Avocados:

    • Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh into a mixing bowl.

Mashing:

    • Add salt and freshly squeezed lime juice to the avocados.
    • Using a fork or a potato masher, mash the avocados until you achieve your desired consistency. Some like it chunky, while others prefer a smoother guacamole.

Adding Flavor:

    • Stir in the minced garlic, chopped cilantro, diced jalapeño, cumin, and cayenne pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly distributed.

Chilling:

    • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap, ensuring the wrap makes contact with the surface of the guacamole to prevent browning. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.

Serving:

    • After chilling, give the guacamole a quick stir. Serve with tortilla chips and enjoy!

Tip: If you want to add a touch of sweetness and texture, consider folding in some diced tomatoes or red onions. For an extra zing, a splash of hot sauce works wonders.
