Total Time

1 hour 15 minutes

2 ripe avocados
1 teaspoon salt
Juice of 1 lime
1 garlic clove, minced
2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, finely chopped
1 jalapeño pepper, finely diced (remove seeds for a milder flavor)
1 teaspoon ground cumin
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
Tortilla chips, for serving

Prepare the Avocados

  • Cut 2 ripe avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium mixing bowl.
  • Using a fork or potato masher, mash the avocados until they reach your desired consistency—smooth for a creamier guacamole or slightly chunky for more texture.

Add the Flavorings

  • To the mashed avocado, add 1 teaspoon salt, the juice of 1 lime, 1 minced garlic clove, 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh cilantro, 1 finely diced jalapeño pepper (with seeds removed for a milder flavor), 1 teaspoon ground cumin, and ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper.
  • Stir everything together until evenly combined.

Taste and Adjust

  • Taste the guacamole and adjust the seasoning if needed.
  • Add more salt for balance, extra lime juice for brightness, or additional jalapeño or cayenne if you want more heat.

Serve

  • Serve immediately with tortilla chips, tacos, nachos, or as a topping for burgers and sandwiches.
  • If not serving right away, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole and refrigerate to help prevent browning.
