Crust Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • ½ cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

 Sloppy Joe Toppings

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking beef)
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese (optional, for extra cheesy goodness)
  • ½ cup green or red bell pepper, chopped (optional)
  • ¼ cup red onion, thinly sliced (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Make the Thin Crust

  • In the bowl of your stand mixer, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and instant yeast.
  • Add the warm water and olive oil, then use the dough hook attachment to knead the dough on medium speed for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Once kneaded, form the dough into a ball and cover it with a clean towel. Let it rise for 30 minutes in a warm place.

 Prepare the Sloppy Joe Meat

  • Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into small crumbles (about 6-8 minutes). Drain excess grease.
  • Add ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  • Simmer the mixture for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Remove from heat and set aside.

 Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven to heat.

 Roll Out the Dough

  • Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thinness.
  • Transfer the rolled-out dough to a piece of parchment paper for easy handling.

 Assemble the Pizza

  • Spread the Sloppy Joe mixture evenly over the rolled-out pizza dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top. If using, add mozzarella cheese, bell pepper, and red onion.

 Bake the Pizza

  • Carefully transfer the pizza (using the parchment paper) onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

 Serve

  • Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley, slice, and enjoy!
