  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • ½ cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Sloppy Joe Toppings

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking beef)
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese (optional, for extra cheesy goodness)
  • ½ cup green or red bell pepper, chopped (optional)
  • ¼ cup red onion, thinly sliced (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Make the Thin Crust

In the bowl of your stand mixer, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and instant yeast. Add the warm water and olive oil, then use the dough hook attachment to knead the dough on medium speed for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Once kneaded, form the dough into a ball and cover it with a clean towel. Let it rise for 30 minutes in a warm place.

Prepare the Sloppy Joe Meat

Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into small crumbles (about 6-8 minutes). Drain excess grease. Add ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine. Simmer the mixture for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Remove from heat and set aside.

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven to heat.

Roll Out the Dough

Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thinness. Transfer the rolled-out dough to a piece of parchment paper for easy handling.

Assemble the Pizza

Spread the Sloppy Joe mixture evenly over the rolled-out pizza dough, leaving a small border for the crust. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top. If using, add mozzarella cheese, bell pepper, and red onion.

Bake the Pizza

Carefully transfer the pizza (using the parchment paper) onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
